Honoring Our Veterans

Boy Scout Troop 272 of Rose Valley had the opportunity yesterday to talk veterans of World War II. They gathered in our Pub where the Scouts, who are all working on their American Heritage badge,  paired up with the Vets, all residents of Plush Mills, to interview them about their service.

They heard somber accounts of what the men saw in places like Okinawa and Normandy. And more lighthearted stories about how the Veterans, some of whom enlisted when they were nearly as young as the Scouts, passed the time between missions with sports and games.

It was a memorable exchange for everyone.

Mari Schaefer, a writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, sat down with the men before the boys arrived. Read her story on Philly.com.
